Founder James Kim, a lifelong cat lover and foster volunteer, started this platform after witnessing firsthand the challenges that rescue cats — and their future adopters — often face. Hi, I’m James Kim, the heart behind SavingNineLives.com — a site built with one mission in mind:
To help more rescue cats find loving homes, and empower cat parents with trusted, easy-to-understand advice.
It made me realize how many cats don’t get a second chance — not because people don’t care, but because they don’t have the knowledge, time, or support.
Years ago, while working at a group home, I found a stray kitten that needed urgent care. A kind client left out egg drop soup from a nearby restaurant, hoping it would help. I immediately knew the kitten needed real help — but I didn’t have the resources, support, or knowledge to act in time. That moment stuck with me. It pushed me to learn, to grow, and to make sure I’d never feel that helpless again.
Since then, I’ve adopted feral cats of all ages — from weeks-old kittens to a six-year feral who took months to adjust to indoor life. I’ve volunteered at rescues, worked at veterinary clinics, and spent countless hours learning how to care for cats in all stages of their journey — especially the ones others overlook.
